Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, and Electronics Technician

Tributary Systems, Inc.

I started working with Tributary Systems as an electronics technician repairing, cleaning, and updating tape drives, as well as building tape libraries silos. As soon as I heard they were planning to require me to work with computers and update an old Windows server NT 4.0, I guess I became a Network Administrator.

It was my job as a Network Administrator to maintain computer networks and systems, including software, and other hardware. Redesigned the company infrastructure from ISDN to DSL and improved LAN connection’s operational effectiveness by 100%. Implemented, installed, and monitored a network intrusion system in order to increase security and prevent malicious activity. Update or repair network hardware or software by installing and configuring network equipment. Maintaining virus protection software to ensure data and communications are protected. Improving network performance for computer systems and networks by monitoring computer systems. Monitor tape backups on a daily basis. Communicating networking issues to other employees and management, especially in training new users. Assisting users with software and hardware configuration issues on-demand or through system inspection. Monitor Exchange message queues, resolve non-delivery and track messages, and record status/findings in the daily operations log. Configure user accounts and mailboxes on Microsoft Exchange 5.5. Restore and move mailboxes. Migration from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows Server 2003.
